Graet for Concise Science Review

This book is great for a review of sciences. It is a bit dense but provides for a very good review with excellent practice questions. There was actually a question in the Physical Sciences section of the practice MCAT in the book that was nearly identical to a question on the MCAT I took! Very strong.

This is the book if you're already getting above 30!

If you're already getting above 30 and want to improve, this is the book for you. I'm in a Princeton Review class, which got my diagnostic up from 29 to 34, so now I'm aiming for a 37. Just reviewing different sciences and doing practice passages isn't going to get me much higher on the bell curve; I think I need what this book offers, which is really *thinking* practice and coaching. It spends a lot of time addressing and drilling advanced critical reasoning, including logic, analysis, synthesis, reading skills, math skills, etc. The science reviews are very brief but more in-depth than other books I've looked at, including Kaplan and Princeton Review. Each science review section is followed with exercises and questions, which aren't exactly like MCAT questions; the book's questions are more focused on the topic at hand, and might involve more calculation. I like having these kinds of questions in addition to the piles of MCAT questions I get from the Princeton Review. In a nutshell, this is the most HIGH YIELD book I've seen if you're self-motivated and looking to improve from a great score to a truly exceptional one.

With regard to the previous review

I think the book is on fact very good, without getting lost in the details, it focuses on the concepts and thinking, something that most MCAT books on the market fail to do. True, the book does not have as many practice questions and passages as it should, but if you want practice, I suggest picking up Columbia Review Practice Tests.

good review, but practice test somewhere else

This book covers many study and prep tips in detail. The information review is excellent, with many suggestions for quick hands-on learning experiments to help you grasp the material. It includes only one practice test and it did not seem thorough or in the actual MCAT format. A great book for learning/refreshing concepts, but I wouldn't use it for a practice exam.
