Different take on the short game

I have read several books on the short game and so far, this is my favorite. Mclean covers all the basics and also throws in some wild shots-the right hand backwards shot sounds quite interesting. Some of Mclean's techniques run counter to other books I've read, which I like. I don't believe one swing works for everybody, and he encourages experimentation. I do have a couple of complaints about the book. The first one is the way the book is laid out. If you want to read up on pitching, for example, you have to skip around in several chapters to read everything on that subject. The other complaint involves the special shots introduced, such as the right hand backwards shot. I think photo series would have been very useful for demonstrating these shots.

Solid

Im a big fan of Mclean...He is one of the few top instructors who is also a great player, hes played in a bunch of major championships....You can learn some really cool shots in this book, like the trevino "burning wedge"...this is not something you will get in other short game books...Dont let the title fool you, this book is great for all levels of golfers.

Improving your Mom's game

I gave this book to my mom who is a senior golfer playing in the high 90's. In one month, she reduced her handicap by 9 strokes after reading this book. This is true, as I can see it in her smile. That's only about $2 per stroke - good book investment. Now she has her whole gang at the country club reading the book and trying to catch her score. Excellent book descriptions on various techniques used to cut strokes from your game.

Solid

A very solid book on all aspects of the short game by one of the top rated PGA instructors. Includes practice routines and drills, equipment needed, course management, grip, distance control, shots for every situation(rough, sand, backspin, chipping, and even a little on putting and much more), as well as a list of golf schools if you REALLY need help. Even lists who and what to watch for when watching golf on TV. I love "Idiot's" books for reference, this one included, for their great indexing and detailed contents pages that let you go directly to a section without reading the whole book if you are looking for an instant solution to one particular problem. I would also recommend Dave Pelz's great book.
