"Benning on Empty" is a satirical webcomic published from 2016-2020, with a brief revival at the end of Jim Benning's tenure as general manager of the Vancouver Canucks. The strip imagined the behind-the-scenes dealings and discussions leading to some of the curious directions the franchise took, designed to provide a few laughs for a long-suffering fanbase during some of its darkest days.The Complete "Benning on Empty" reproduces all of the 116 strips with commentary highlighting some of the storylines or circumstances that went into their design. It is bookended by an introduction and epilogue section providing some further context and observations about an especially perplexing time to be a fan of an already-perplexing team.
