Comparative Politics of the Third World: Linking Concepts and Casesis a good book with a lot of information as the previous reviewer has indicated, however because it's 2007 printing, it needs to have a supplementry text or articles to update the area between were the book leaves off and modern day. However that glaring weakness accepted, this book does provide very good and detailed histories of the countries in the book : Iran, China, Indonesia, Mexico, Turkey, Peru, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and maybe one or two more that escape me at the moment. This book also provides detailed chapters on problems facing countries of the developing world like revolutions, political violence, pollution, globalization and it's impact on the developing world and other areas of conflict and/or concearn. Again, the book because of it's datedness fails to account for current events like the election protests in Iran or Uighar violence in China.
