Coming of the Dursturock

As a budding atheist, living in a small theocratic community devoted to the Creator's magical animals is difficult for Cara. It's even more problematic given that her father is the High Priest of the village.

After confronting her father she runs away on a teleporting animal and meets an exiled heretic, who helps her solidify her atheist beliefs. But before long her father's priests drag her back to the village and she is forced to endure the teachings of the Creator under the careful eye of the priest assigned to babysit her.

Her anger is quickly forgotten when foretold signs of a coming apocalypse, the Dursturock, begin to appear. Cara finds herself questioning her beliefs in the face of these events as her society begins to crumble around her. Will her faith, or lack of it, be able to prevent the destruction of her village?
