Book Overview

"God is at home. It is we who have gone out for a walk." --Meister Eckhart In Coming Home to Your True Self, Albert Haase invites you to return home--and shows you the way to get there. "Home," he writes, "is the sacrament of the present moment. It is only living right now, right here, that we discover our lives and this world awash in the grace of God." Using the story of the prodigal son to illustrate the far country of our false self...

Read it Twice!

If I were to use a yellow highlighter to note the important parts of this book...well, I may as well dip it in a bucket of yellow paint! I recommend reading it through once - underline if you wish - and then read it a second time, keeping a notebook handy because it is thought-provoking. Fr. Haase explains "spirituality" and especially "spiritual growth" in a way is understandable and applicable. Highly recommend.

A wonderful guide, no matter where you are on the journey

This is a treasure, and one that you'll want to keep on your shelf despite wanting friends and family to read it, too. Fr. Haase has done a great service to all who want to grow in their relationship with God. He's given concrete ways to incorporate the spiritual life into the hustle and bustle of this world, replacing those things that take us away from God. He's packed a lot of spiritual direction into a concise and entertaining book. I'm better for having read it. Thank you, Fr. Haase.

A Gentle Guide

I emjoyed this simple volume on finding your way back to God's will -- which is, indeed, where you are right at this moment. With practical examples and simple language, Haase explains the earthly temptations we face every day, and how they separate us from the Lord, our true home, our true self. He discusses the seven deadly sins (an analysis I found particularly interesting), and shares practices to bring you back to self/God/home. Gentle, thought-provoking, and easy to read, this would be a great book for a study group or individual contemplation.

Excellent Spiritual Refllection

This book is truly written for deep self examination of one's life and spiritual path. I recommend it to anyone who is embarking on or on a spiritual journey.

Amazing Book

Albert Hasse has done an excellent job of describing the Christian journey back to who God created us to be. His chapters bring up signposts along the path home and reminds us that the path is not a straight line. Albert Hasse seems to make a point of walking with you along the path and not in front or behind. This book is such a good read that I read it all in almost one sitting. At the same time, each paragraph has such pearls of wisdom that I have found myself reading and re-reading chapters over and over again. Anyone that is searching for a way to be more authentic, more in tune with God, and more present to God, self and others will find this book an excellent addition to their library.
