This is a book of 2 journals written while my husband was dying in hospital. He finally succumbed to complications of infections from illicit IV (shooting up/injecting) drug use. The author herself at the time was in active addiction. The journals show the emotional torture and hell the author went through. This is the second edition of the book because at the publication of the 1st, the author was still an addict, and grieving and due to trauma did not edit the book properly. A couple of years has now passed and the author not liking how the first edition came out has decided to reproduce the book. There is added material. There is a warning to addicts that every time you use a needle you risk infection and ultimately death. Today the author is clean and healthy, but lucky! A must read if you are thinking about using drugs I..V. because this could happen to you. It is happening to dozens in one ward on the Sunshine Coast per week with an average of one death at that hospital a week. This will put you off shooting up those drugs. It may get you high, but is it worth it? Do you want your loved ones watching you die?
