This book presents the fundamental principles and engineering applications of combustion. Combustion is an essential process for energy conversion and is widely used in systems such as internal combustion engines, gas turbines, industrial furnaces, and power generation plants. Understanding the physical and chemical mechanisms involved in fuel oxidation, heat release, and flame propagation is important for improving energy efficiency and reducing environmental impacts. Finally, the environmental effects of combustion are examined, including the formation of pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, soot, and unburned hydrocarbons. This work was developed within the framework of teaching and research activities at the Laboratory of Mechanics (LGM), University of Biskra, contributing to the advancement of combustion and energy research.
