Sometime in the night a woman screamed. The next morning Pat Botham, Linda Miracle, and Linda's two toddler sons were simply gone. It was the perfect crime until the railroad lowered the water level... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Marti Talbott's book gets the old brain to ticking. Her account of the murders and the investigations that followed is truly worth reading. I loved the way she turned the coin around and looked at every side. Well done, Marti. A most enjoyable book!
Surprisingly Good

I didn't expect much picking up this book. It has a simple cover reminiscent of those pulp stories we used to have in the 1950s. I bought it because the author and I have a similar last name. What I found inside was a gripping, horrifying (TRUE!) tale of murder, macabe and mystery. Is the husband as guilty as they say? I didn't know anything about this case before I picked up this book, but I was definitely left with a good feeling of the facts when I was done. Bravo, Ms.Talbott! I can't wait to see more of your true crime masterpieces!

From the moment you start to read, you find an Amazing story that centers around the disappearance of Pat Botham and Linda Miracle, as well as Linda's young children. This is not your typical "Mystery" by far, no, rather a book that keeps you engulfed in the many twist and turns. There were many times I was almost sure I knew who did it, but do I?? Could Ms. Botham's husband have committed such a crime, after all he was the one convicted. But, was he convicted of a crime he did not commit? This and many other questions are being asked by Sam Weller. The author, Ms. Talbot relates the story of known facts, as well as having been to the trial, allowing for her wealth of knowledge. Not only is this book true, it is a horrific true. It also makes you wonder, can someone be so good at bending and twisting that the murderer goes free while the innocoent are punished? Bravo Ms. Talbot, for you gave us a brilliant piece of work, an exceptional book that is hard to put down.
A Terrific Mystery...And It's All True!

Forget the standard beginning of a typical mystery novel, because Colorado Cold Case in neither standard or typical as far as murder mysteries go because it is true. The author relates her first-hand experience as a witness to the trial of the man convicted of brutally killing two women (his wife included) and two children in a normally quiet western Colorado town. But is the convicted man the real killer? The author doesn't think so and lays out the facts of the case in a fast paced and intriguing fashion. Instead of starting in typical mystery fashion with "it was a dark and lonely night", the author chooses to relate her knowledge of the case through conversations with a man she meets while stranded in a snowstorm atop the Grand Mesa. The dialogue is brisk and informative and I found myself assimilated into the character of Sam, asking the same questions as I, like Sam, wanted to know to understand all the facts and by so knowing, determine who the real killer might be. Colorado Cold Case is not only a terrific mystery, but because it is horrificaly true, it grips the reader from the opening chapter. Don't wait to read Ms. Talbott's exceptionally well written and intriguing book. You'll be glad you did.
