This book is the first one you should have for buying and collecting fountain pens. If you deepen your interest, sure, there are more on the market and excellent ones at that. However, if you only buy one, buy this. I bought the hardcover, and the paperback (to get a friend hooked). However, for some reason, the paperback is NOT in color and do not advise the paperback, that is unless I just got a black and white edition. Except for the "black & white" imiages, the paperback is otherwise just fine.

I find this book to be very helpful as one of serveral reference books for buying and selling pens. As with everything, you must learn to use information to your benefit. More color pictures would be nice.
