This guide has helped me obtain a basic understanding of the purpose and uses of ColdFusion. It is used where I work and it was important for me to add ColdFusion to my toolbox, so to speak. This beginner's guide has allowed me to do that. Thank you for a much better; start of the art toolbox.

Cold Fusion: A must read and great investment.

In my years of doing programming on different platforms and Operating System this book by far has been the most useful. The sheer detail in examples and the well thought-out instructions lend this book to be a great resource to the novice and the pro. A must read and great investment. James E. Rudolph

ColdFusion 5: A Beginner's Guide

In my judgment, it is very difficult to find a decent Beginner's Guidebook that deals with something technical (like computer programming concepts). Far too often, the "entry-level technical" books are so basic that they border on remedial.Also, some technical authors tend to think that adding stale jokes to their condescending tutorials make their books more readable somehow.Thankfully, Jeff Houser's book is neither condescending nor full of cheesy jokes. He points out in the introduction that the book does assume a little knowledge of the web and HTML (which, truth be told, is about my skill level). After reading the book (which was well-oganized, so I could skip the sections on the stuff I already felt comfotable with- like database design), I have been able to feel comfortable debugging Cold Fusion source code...I highly recommend this book to anyone who- like me- is just starting out with Cold Fusion...
