We stand at an unprecedented threshold: the systematic transfer of human cognitive functions-memory, calculation, pattern recognition, decision-making, even creativity-to external technological systems. This is cognitive externalization, and it constitutes a transformation of the economic order comparable in significance to the Industrial Revolution.Cognitive Externalization Economics argues that this process is simultaneously a tremendous liberation of productive forces (the remedy) and a profound crisis of subjectivity (the poison). It introduces cognitive capital as a new analytical category, reconstructs the knowledge production function to incorporate data and algorithms, and analyzes the pharmacological dialectic that runs through every act of externalization. The book proposes re-internalization-the critical appropriation of externalized achievements into cultivated human capacities-as the path between technological determinism and romantic nostalgia.Drawing on non-Western philosophical traditions and spanning from the first stone tools to the prospect of consciousness externalization, this work offers both a diagnosis of our present condition and a roadmap for preserving human autonomy in the cognitive age.
