Alice the older of two Baristas is in her early 40s. She has had a messy divorce and is raising a teenage daughter on her own. The younger Barista, Katie is mid-20s, mousy and a little shy but there is an underlying beauty that's been stifled. Working in a run-down but popular Caf , the pair struggle with worn out equipment and a misogynistic, over-bearing owner. Their skills with coffee keep the customers coming. Both have had troubled pasts and are desperately looking for real love and affection but find only shallow and meaningless relationships.
