The "Coffee Cantata" by J. S. Bach, BWV 211, is here presented with a complete script thereby making it a delightful, curiously updated one-act musical. Lizzy, the daughter of that slacker Schlendrian, is in love with Coffee, a tenant renting a room out of her father's apartment. But she is afraid of telling him the truth, and so he naturally thinks she's addicted to a beverage. He demands she give up her coffee craze before he gives her hand in marriage. To this end he interviews a series of suitors, each one stranger than the last. But thanks to a final codicil in the wedding contract, Lizzy ends up marrying her true love Coffee in the end.
