Code Green is a pretty cool read. I didn't know if I'd like it or not. It's about a male nurse who's under pressure and not doing a very good job of coping. Early on, another nurse gets attacked by one of the psych patients, and it's Chip Stone, the main character, to the rescue. From then on the book held my attention. It's got a little violence, a little kinky sex, a fairly weird point of view, some funky songs, and a bunch of laughs. This book covers a lot of territory, freaky territory at that, and it moves pretty fast. Chip is my guy! I want to be a nurse!
Unusual and Riveting

This is a very funny book, laugh-out-loud funny in places. The characters are all so eccentric, and yet they're quite believable too. Dewitt is priceless, as are Wisper, Wink and Donald Blue. Aside from `Catch-22' and `A Confederacy of Dunces,' I can't think of any novels that can hang with `Code Green' for pure (and peculiar) humor. And yet there's a sadness to this book as well, a sort of underlying melancholy-Chip's marriage is ruined, he's self-destructive, he hangs out with a bunch of crazies-that brings the tale a dark and sobering edge. You feel almost guilty for laughing. All in all, a very unusual and riveting piece of writing.
