Cobra Chapel
Cobra Capela is a gripping mediumnistic novel dictated by the spirit Count J.W. Rochester and psychographed by the Russian medium Vera Kryzhanovskaia. Blending high-society drama with occult intrigue, the story is a profound Spiritist exploration of ambition, betrayal, and the inescapable laws of karmic justice.
Rafaela, the illegitimate daughter of a famous courtesan, is abandoned to the care of her cruel and miserly grandfather, Kunrad. Starved and beaten, the young girl is eventually sold to a traveling circus, where she endures brutal whippings but transforms into a breathtaking acrobat. Her fierce, rebellious nature and hypnotic green eyes earn her the stage name "Cobra Capela".
Years later, armed with her staggering beauty and a heart hardened by poverty, Rafaela orchestrates a daring deception. Feigning a sleepwalking episode, she uses her acrobatic skills to seduce the wealthy Count Argunov-the former lover of her own mother-into a secret marriage. But the title of Countess is not enough for Rafaela. Consumed by a lustful obsession for Prince Leonid, the husband of her pure and wealthy stepdaughter, Ta ssa, she sets out to steal both his heart and Ta ssa's colossal fortune.
Allying herself with a dark Spanish hypnotist, Rafaela poisons her husband and subjects Ta ssa to a terrifying psychic attack that drives the young princess to the brink of fatal madness. However, the laws of divine Nemesis intervene. Betrayed by Rafaela, the hypnotist exposes her murderous plot, leading to her banishment from Russia. The novel reaches a breathtaking climax in Italy, where Rafaela's trail of destruction finally catches up to her, proving that the venom of the soul inevitably destroys the one who wields it.
