Fantastic for front-line managers

I believe front-line managers will pick up concepts they can implement immediately. Compared to other management books I have read, Coaching Illustrated is unique in its concept and design, while it is also more practically focused.

The most accessible book on coaching guidelines I have read.

Our organization deals with numerous small businesses that have no end of employee problems. Invaribly, these problems show up as a reduced bottom line. This book contains concise, easy to read, common sense approaches for coaching employees to achieve their personal and professional goals. Each client that comes to us for consulting is given a copy of "Coaching Illustrated," and told to read it before we set down to examine their business. Once the clients have read "Coaching Illustrated" they are better able to see where they need improvement and understand the steps they need to go through in order to achieve their desired results. This book helps us help our clients get their employees working for the same things, e.g., increased profits, job satisfaction, recognition, etc. I, and my organization, strongly recommend this book as an accessible approach to practical coaching.

This book will make you a better coach.

I have many business/management books in my collection. Many of these books I have not read completely as I either lose interest or only use partial sections. Coaching Illustrated is the first in a long string of reading that I found enjoyable as well as informative. I read it cover-to-cover in the first sitting and felt compelled to read on.I found the layout of the book to be very easy to follow. The segments are precise yet complete enough to effectively and efficiently convey the coaching concept. The illustrations helped to reinforce the learning and created a quick visual to represent the concept.Contained in the definition is the concept behind each coaching skill along with practical suggestions on how to effectively implement it. In addition, the examples share real world approaches that helped me realize where I was already successfully applying the skill and what areas I could improve upon. The review sections served to visually reinforce the concepts learned. I found myself anxious to complete the review and be able to identify the illustration. It also encouraged reflective thinking within my own coaching style.I believe from my own experience that if the reader only implements a few of the concepts presented, they will become better coaches and build stronger relationships with their team members. If they systematically incorporate all the concepts, their results will drastically improve and teamwork will soar.

Great for ANYONE in a management or coaching position!

Most of the management books I have read are based largely on philosophy and have a lot of information on WHY. Coaching Illustrated is different because it not only gives you the WHY, it also gives you the HOW. It is something I can take and implement into my world TODAY!I believe that those who read this book and go through the review exercises (the review section is fabulous!) will have the opportunity to improve their coaching abilities, create high-performance teams and incorporate a more cohesive approach to managing people. It will change the way I do things. I have made a commitment to implement these principles into my management style and have already seen improvements in communication within our team.
