Clues From The Canines: A Lily Dreyfus Mystery

Lily, the Adoption Coordinator at the Forever Friends Animal Shelter, is stunned by the news that her physically fit, former Marine, boyfriend is dead. She receives this news when the State Police call the shelter to ask if they can foster the victim's dog until a next of kin notification is made.

When the police rule the death a homicide, Lily, spurred on by grief, resolves to sniff out the killer. She gathers her pack, both human and canine, to point police to the perpetrator. With her understanding of animal behavior as her guide, Lily observes the victim's dog as he reacts to people attempting to adopt him. Whether happily wagging his tail or baring his teeth in a snarl his mannerisms point her in the right direction. Is there a family fortune to be gotten with the dog's ownership? Lily finds out the lengths one killer will go to silence her suspicions.

To aid Lily in coping with her grief, her good friend Mickey suggests a walk in the woods with their four-legged companions. The canine pack lead the women to a body in the underbrush. As she tries to understand how a dead teenage girl ended up in the woods, Lily will eventually discover that this death is connected to her boyfriend's.

Lily will gnaw at the facts until she breaks through to the meat of the matter. Even though her friends dismiss her conclusions as conspiracy theory, Lily assertively shares her idea with law enforcement. Assuming her reliance on canine behavior has impacted her judgment, everyone is skeptical of the connections she has drawn. All of the characters will learn that Lily was spot on when fingerprint evidence confirms her Conclusions.

Set in a small town in New jersey, Clues From the Canines combines witty dialogue with tension and intrigue. The canine pack compete for the alpha position, their owner's attention and extra treats, while the human pack doggedly seek out justice.
