Sitting on top of Roan Mountain, along the State line of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina once sat a grand hotel, The Cloudland Hotel. From the 1880's until just past the turn of the century, people were drawn to the mountaintop resort from all over the United States as well as Europe to what was called a Health Spa for anyone experiencing respiratory issues and for the enjoyment of a beautiful land of mountains and the beautiful rhododendron gardens. General John Wilder intended this grand hotel to be a place of peace and healing...but sometimes there are those who have other ideas. Cloudland is a story of what might happen when a madman is set loose, even in such a wonderful creation as Roan Mountain. Set in the 1890's, amongst the dense Catawba rhododendron gardens, the mountain forests, the sudden dense cloud covers, and an unsuspecting populace, a murderer is on the loose. The question exists not only as to who is committing these terrible crimes, but why...and who will be next.
