Closure
A man is dead. His pregnant partner is the only witness. And the killer was gone before dawn.
When Detective Nate Kelshaw is pulled from his bed in the early hours, the crime scene doesn't add up. The attack was too precise, too controlled - the work of someone who had rehearsed every step. The only connection anyone can find leads to a doctor: palliative care physician James Malter, and the patients he tends as they die.
People at the end of everything. Nothing left to protect. Nothing left to fear.
As Kelshaw digs deeper, a pattern emerges that shouldn't be possible. Malter's patients are dying - they were always dying - but some of them, it seems, chose not to go quietly. Someone has been moving through the city's hospices and care facilities, locating the ones who still carry unfinished business, and pointing them toward targets the law once let walk free. The casualties are mounting. The connections are undeniable. And Malter, increasingly, is at the centre of all of it.
Malter insists he knows nothing. But the closer Kelshaw gets to the truth, the clearer it becomes that Malter's connection to this case runs far deeper than professional obligation - and that the man at the heart of the conspiracy is someone Malter has his own long-suppressed reasons to hate.
The truth, when it finally arrives, is worse than a conspiracy.
It's a reckoning.
Closure is a dark, morally charged crime thriller set in Melbourne, Australia, exploring the shadowlands between justice and murder - and the uncomfortable question of what the dying are truly owed, and what they might decide to take. It is the third novel from Australian revenge fiction author Garrett Addison, following The Traveller and Minions, and is written for readers who want their crime fiction to leave them thinking long after the last page.
