Closets is a story about being gay, surviving AIDS, and recovering from addiction, mostly set in the United States deep South. Harry C. S. Wingfield is a singer/songwriter who has performed at Pride events and AIDS events all over the country. His songwriting echoes his journey through the early days of gay rights, the rise of LGBTQ politics, the onslaught of the AIDS epidemic, and ultimately finding love, equality, and serenity. The book blends humor with sorrow and anger, and gives a view of this part of LGBTQ history that happened outside of the big cities in the Northeast and the West Coast. There are links throughout the book to YouTube videos, so the readers can hear the music as they read the lyrics.
