This study addresses the main clinical and laboratory changes in dogs experimentally infected with Ehrlichia canis and monitored for 9 months. Indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) was performed throughout the study period, and some animals developed IgG antibody titres as high as 1:65,536, unrelated to the manifestation of symptoms. Morulae were observed in monocytes and platelets in the animals studied, indicating that the presence of morulae in dog platelets is not restricted to infection by Anaplasma platys.
