This thesis highlights the educational potential of climbing and provides a guide for teachers on how to integrate climbing into the school curriculum. Using the two disciplines of sport climbing and bouldering, the following aspects are examined, amongst others: opportunities for participation, safety, aspects relating to school sport and motor skills, and the importance of climbing as a means of emotional regulation. The focus is also on the educational areas of the Austrian school curriculum, the experiential and learning aspects of climbing, and the associated educational objectives. To support the practical implementation of climbing sessions in school sport, the training requirements and opportunities for teachers, as well as the benefits for young people in practising climbing, are outlined. In addition, a collection of practical exercises for climbing and belaying techniques, as well as climbing games, is provided. The focus is on beginners, with activities taking place in climbing or bouldering halls and in the school gym.
