I should probably start by disclosing that the author and I are childhood friends, so I was particularly excited to read her first published book! I was expecting more of a thriller/whodunit-type story, based on the product information, and the book did start out that way, but then took a surprising turn. Midway through, the focus changed from the murder to the main character's personal and spiritual development. It was interesting to see how she explored this side of herself, with the help of some old friends. I think this would make a good selection for a book club, as it has several different aspects that could bring about thought-provoking discussion. I will look forward to reading Carrie Ann Alford's next publication!
