I was only eight, and was bitten by the aviation bug. When I was old enough, I learned how to fly, but was still going nowhere fast, so I decided to join the Air Force. This was where I found my purpose in technical training and discipline that no money could buy. This training, along with my knowledge of carpentry gained from my father, allowed me to fix almost any problem my friends and relatives could throw at me. My injuries in the service caused me to leave because they would not let me do my job, but I could still swing a mean hammer!
My story revolves around general aviation, but in the Air Force, as in life, obstacles made me choose paths I might not have done so on my own volition. As someone once said, "Life is what happens to you when you're making other plans." That sure applied to me as one tragedy or obstacle after another altered my course. In the following pages the reader will discover how I navigated through my life.
