rare find for a cuisine ofter overlooked i love this book. being a military kid, we lived in the netherlands for several years. that time was spent with flavorfull, homestock food. i appreciate finding this book. i appreciate this great book with the lively, colorful, and homey plates of the netherlands. there are several things that i had forgotten about and have had some good laughs from times past. (like people getting ready to have a heat stroke if the temperatures got near 80 degress F.) in my experience, the dutch enjoy pretty things. they dress very colorfully and the manner in which they combine and plate their food reflects this. i love the way that the dutch respond to the seasons. there are still many traditional dishes. the fresh white asparagus with hollandise sauce served in the spring. the different tarts prepared with fresh fruit. i bought this as a mothers day gift for my mother. and as i have had a chance to look it over, i am so glad i bought one for myself. i am going to try and find some others for my siblings. i recommend this.
