Clare of Assisi: A Living Flame of Love

Clare of Assisi was a contemplative woman who radiated gentleness and love to a broken world and became a beacon of light for a whole generation. Here we hope to come to experience that gentleness and love that moved St. Clare.St. Clare reflected the light of God's love to the world. Her heart was full of love and people were attracted to her. Many were healed. She and St. Francis were one in spirit. The secret of Clare's love was her prayer-life. She became prayer - she focussed her attention "on the light and she opened more generously the depths of her mind to the torrents of grace that bathe a world of troubled change" (Legend of St. Clare, 19). Her love, an echo of God's love, bathed everyone. In this work we hope to enter this love.I used the image of Paul Simon's "Dangling Conversation". This expresses the way we so often fail to meet each other or God. Clare, by her openness, came to know God and in her spiritual friendship brought others into that space where they could find God and themselves. A new conversation was opened up between God and the broken.
