Claiming His Family by Barbara Hannay Harlequin Romances # 3907 - September 2006 There were so many things that contributed to their marriage breakup fives years ago. Erin didn't hate Luke, that's not why she left with her infant son, Joey. She just couldn't take the complete isolation of her husband's Outback station anymore and always having to cope with his absences. So when her baby was sick and the Flying Doctors hadn't deemed them an emergency, and Luke still not taking her concerns seriously, she broke and fled to her family in New York City. Luke hadn't followed her; he'd coldly let her leave and then let the lawyers handle the rest. Joey's five now and he's making up stories about his father that concern Erin, so she makes the move to reunite father and son. The solution is a trip to Australia, with Joey spending two months on the station while Erin vacations near Sydney. When Joey is injured in a minor accident, Erin goes running to be with him and she finds herself back on Luke's turf. Station life is different now, but the passion between them is still the same. I loved this story and read it in one sitting. Ms. Hannay did a great job of combining memories of life on the station and the present. She shows us how deeply both Luke and Erin are affected by the reunion and the tremendous pain they carry from their failed marriage. I loved both Erin and Luke, and Joey was well written. This is a must read and well deserved it's RITA award. :D
