Larry, a black man in America, born and raised in San Francisco, like many others, was profiled by law enforcement. My personal experience is the police, who are giddy because they know they have profiled you, as if it is a form of entertainment. They lie and say something like," A person fitting your description, including the clothing", robbed someone, as his speechless partner stands there with a hand on his gun holster, waiting for my sudden move. Mines occurred on the UCLA campus while attending an international conference on disasters, and with students looking on. Larry's ordeal, in San Francisco, as pedestrians, mostly white and Asians, walked by and looked on. Consequently, he was detained and eventually arrested based on unsubstantiated claims that he assaulted an elderly Asian man minutes before, fueling an already racially and politically charged Bay Area, as black males targeted as the assailants assaulting Asians, causing knee-jerk reactions from the public and law enforcement, who had not treated assaults on African Americans and systemic harassment and prejudice with the same sense of urgency. All headed to a political showdown with innocent Larry, the pun, at the center, that could either re-elect, or end a mayor's career. Did it?
