The city has not gone silent.
It is still talking.
Beyond the perimeter lies a dead city wired with traps, broken signals, mimic voices, and something under the streets that has learned how to think. Adam Mercer and the survivors have already fought through nightmare after nightmare, but the ruined grid ahead of them is different. It does not simply want to kill them. It wants to study them, separate them, and pull them deeper into the dark.
Every street is a warning. Every building could be a mouth. Every voice over the radio might belong to someone alive, someone dead, or something wearing the sound of a human being like a mask.
As the group pushes into the city, old systems wake beneath the pavement. Cameras turn on by themselves. Doors lock. Power flickers through places that should have been dead for years. Messages appear where no one should be able to send them. The city is guiding them somewhere, and the closer they get to the center, the more obvious it becomes that the infection is no longer just spreading.
It is building.
Adam must keep the survivors moving while the city tests their fear, loyalty, and sanity. But exhaustion is catching up. Trust is cracking. The dead are not staying quiet. And the thing beneath the streets has begun projecting itself outward, using the city as its body and every broken system as a nerve.
If they turn back, the perimeter falls.
If they go forward, they may never leave.
