Eighteen months have passed since Tim Matthias defeated the Dark Lord Zadinn Kanas. The people of the North, joined by settlers from the South, have finished constructing the city of Galdon, and it should be a time for celebration--but something is awry in the Lifesource.

After a disturbance and Boblin and Celia Kule's wedding, Tim discovers a cottage in the Erdrar Forest hiding a terrible secret: a mysterious elion has tapped into a reservoir of the Lifesource and is now traveling west toward Agrazab, the City of Darkness where Zadinn first served the Demon Lord Uklith.
