Eleanor, an artist, is in the process of finishing an ocean-themed mural for the Saint John city waterfront when she becomes interested in a new art project. A local business wants to find look-alikes for sixteen architectural sculptures, known as 'grotesques, ' on the exterior of the Chubb's Corner Building in Uptown Saint John. Eleanor watches the faces in the crowd and, one by one, identifies look-alikes. Unfortunately, one of the people she sees does not want to be identified and Eleanor and her art become the object of his anger.
