This substantially revised edition retains its distinctive organizational format which uses the full range of fundamental concepts for each type of circuit before progressing to the next. This building block approach applies three basic concepts--resistance, inductance, capacitance--to a series of circuits, beginning with simple designs and gradually increasing in complexity. Extensive "remember" statements facilitate review by highlighting key concepts at the end of every section. The abundant problem sets have been updated--several completely new, others with novel variables.
Excellent introductory text for the serious student

This text provides a serious coverage of basic circuit fundamentals and associated time-domain and frequency-domain analysis. It progresses effectively from one topic to the next. A solid understanding of first-year college calculus is required. The earlier chapters give a solid foundation for the more advanced circuit topics. Definitions are highlighted. Examples and exercises are included throughout. The text provides several useful options for different content needs. It is appropriate for a two-semester comprehensive coverage or for shorter selected-topics options. The extensive problem sets are a strength in that they are keyed to the sub-sections of each chapter and that they progress in difficulty. A useful appendix on complex numbers is included. I have taught using this text for several years with good success.
