Irreal fiction tends to emphasise the psychological and dream-like qualities of reality in preference to overt plot and character development. It also tends to be open-ended, raising as many questions as it answers. Well-known writers who could broadly be classified as "irrealist" include Borges, Kafka, Calvino, Ishiguro, Breton and Knut Hamsun. As such, this book may appeal to those who already enjoy their work.
