Cigarette Juice is a fictional story with some true facts. A family moves back to the deep south only to find resistance and hate for moving out west. It's the great migration in reverse. On February 9, 1971 at 6:01am, a 6.5 earthquake struck Southern California. The epicenter was in Sylmar, Ca. not far from Magic Mountain. It was on a Tuesday morning, that quake was forty miles north of Compton, where we lived. I know a lot of black families moved back to the south for whatever reason. I did know I was leaving behind more opportunities for black people.
