Can Chynna help a runaway boy without being carried away by the hurricane?

Chynna Boswell is not sure she wants to stay on the North Carolina's Outer Banks. Caught between Pamlico Sound and the Atlantic Ocean and with only one main road, it seems a delicate perch. But her mom, Allison, has work to do there, and she and her sister, Hafley, have to go along. If the Nifty Fifties house they rent isn't weird enough, there's the mystery of a runaway boy to ponder. When that boy shows up in Chynna's kitchen, she has to decide whether to help him hide or turn him over to his uncle and aunt. Her decision will shock everyone and put Chynna in danger. Outside in the storm, trying to keep her wheelchair from turning over, with rain pelting her face and wind threatening to rip her backpack out of her arms, Chynna will wish she had been honest with her mom. But it will be too late, then, and Chynna will have to ride out the storm in a strange house with only two friends for company.
