This book is about the unique character of Owen Goodson, a Missouri native who's life was shaped by the valley and hills in which he lived, as well as the time frame of post depression era, world war II and the 1950's leap into Rock and Roll. Most of the stories in the book were told by him to others, who remembered and shared them. Other stories are about how his family and friends remember him and his distinct outlook on life, which always included, family, nature, automobiles and hunting. In between the lines, one can see the hardship of the times, but that never interfered with the fun and joy of daily life. If we could reduce Owen's philosophy of life to one statement, it would probably be: I just want to be me!!
