Chronicles of an Uncertain Decade

As I have had the good fortune to be an eyewitness of two very special decades, revolutionary, if you will: the 1960s and the 2010s, it occurs to me that both have in common to represent a kind of preamble or announcement of times of major change, that is, the end of some paradigm or model and the emergence of a new one, perhaps a counter-model, even within the capitalist economic regime itself. Rereading these articles, I discovered a kind of underlying hypothesis that is clear in my final article: the success in the development of a country depends on the right dose of two great instruments: the State and the Market. Each one with its virtues and defects. My experience of almost twenty years living in Denmark, perhaps the most developed country in the world, convinced me of the importance of these two instruments. With the fall of the real socialisms in 1989-1990, the discussion of capitalism versus socialism came to an end. What remains in place, however, is the democratic political regime.
