Hidden in an Italian villa's attic, two teenagers in love find centuries old diaries, written by an Englishman who says he was a playwright and a spy for the Queen until his staged death and exile to Venice. But while the attic diaries and the lovers' unfolding sexual relationship are being enthusiastically explored, the teenagers' romance faces major obstacles: In addition to living an ocean apart and navigating one domineering and possessive parent, the value of the diaries themselves becomes a serious threat.
