?????Everything in Beth Pennington's world seems to stop when she receives an email reminder from her boss that Christmas is on Wednesday this year and that it is the only day that they have off from... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Soon to be college students, those starting their first job away from home, or anyone in the mood for an enjoyable, happy story in time for the holidays will love this book. Beth's adventure from a small town in Texas to the big city is entertaining and heartening as she takes on exciting new challenges while struggling with occasional homesickness, and the trials of being out on her own for the first time. A delightful twist at the end leaves me hoping for sequel to this story. I will look for more from this talented new author.
Couldn't put it down...

A very good friend of mine sent me this book and I couldn't put it down. I have recently moved to New York, just like the main character Beth, and really connected with her character throughout the entire book as well as many of her friends. A must read for anyone about to go off to college or simply out on their own. This book speaks to how we never really are alone if we're open to the joys life has to offer. I've found a great Christmas present in this book and look forward to many more from this author.

When I finished the book there was a tear in my eye! I found the book very touching, enjoyable, and fun to read. Having gone 'away' to college myself, I could certainly relate to Beth's experiences. Not as an athlete, but in the other ways. I faced the similar challenge of not going home every other weekend like my classmates in the dorm, and later in the apartments, and also made the same types of phone calls home to my parents. Thanks to their encouragement and suggestions, I was able to get out and make a life for myself, as the Beth in this book did. I like to find a 'pearl' in every book I read that I carry with me through life, and I found one in this book so wonderful! "When you have butterflies in your stomach, it's okay as long as they are flying in formation". When I feel pressure or stress now, I just think of this phrase, and can push on. This is just one of many lessons conveyed in this delightful novel.

A friend told me about this book, so I got it and couldn't put it down. I'd never heard of the author before, but I believe we'll all be hearing about her in the future. Wow, could I relate to this story. I faced the same situation as Beth in this book, going a long way from home to college, and just like Beth, faced even a bigger eye-opener after taking my first full-time job. Oh my gosh, I just realized that Christmas really is on Wednesday this year. How appropriate. I remember the prospects of my first Christmas away from home- what a drag! Without giving away the story, I'll tell you that I loved the ending. Merry Christmas!
