Christmas Miniature

It's Christmas Eve. The house is quiet, the stockings are hanging on the fireplace, the holly wreaths on the windows, and I've put the last few presents under the tree. Every year, before going up to my room, I savor these last few minutes. I feel the house that surrounds me with its warmth, full of memories of the past and the present, I feel satisfied with what has been and full of anticipation for what is to come. In fact, strange and extraordinary things have often happened to me for Christmas, and I got used to waiting for the unexpected, a new joy to add to other joys, beyond and outside of these. I wonder what will happen this year.
