A fictional romantic story set in Maine, with drama and comedy thrown in for good measure. We join Lucy Steele, as she embarks on a spirited adventure into the unknown. Upon the discovery of an old Victorian journal, Lucy is transfixed by the romance of the Gilded Age, and is blessed by a strong connection to the past that reflects a parallel with her own destiny! ......................... The big day had arrived, and she was inside her taxi, with a nervous stomach and rambling mind. Lucy could not have been more prepared, but it was still not enough to shield her from worrying thoughts. Two luggage bags were full of items that were recommended by co-workers. Hugging them in the back seat, not wanting to forget anything, she was like a student on her way to her senior year. Part of her was enthusiastic, and excited. The other had dread and fear............................. The truck parked along an open driveway, beside other vehicles. It was so cold when she opened the door, that Lucy couldn't stand still with constant shivering. She was indeed unprepared for the weather here. At least her footwear had managed to keep the damp out when walking through fresh heaps of snow. The town was very quiet, and only a few main lights were on to signal that the residents had awoken to prepare their breakfast. A big front door with a decorative and attractive hanging wreath on the front, opened up, and there appeared the lady of the house. Maggie Foster. ............................. Yet again there was that mention of the journal written by P.T. It was displayed, this introduction, on a leaflet that Charlene had created to share the local history of this town. "Have you read this book by the mysterious P.T.? The one here it says was written by a local?". Lucy asked. Charlene shrugged. "Before my time. I do recall hearing about it in school, but then I was a bit of a rascal in class and skipped through. I really regret that now. I think it was a bit of a romantic drama with some comedy thrown in. A real page turner"................................................................................................................................................................................................ The tide sweeps across Meadowbank's long golden sands, as waves whip up against the legs of a much-loved stallion. The owner rode with great joy, and pleasure. Closing his eyes and feeling the cool breeze as it caressed his dark locks of thick black wavy hair. All worries, and burdens had vanished in seconds, but the bliss came to an abrupt end with a cry from a young woman. ....................... Mrs Hopkins cried out in protest, "Dear child, enough of this doom and gloom. I tell you; I am greatly distressed. Have I not been expressive enough of my desire to hear no more about tales that are spun from your inventive mind!". ........................ Only one dance should suffice to quench his passion she thought. How wrong was she? ....................... This is but only a brief introduction, for there is much more within this story that will capture your imaginations of the past, and of the present. I invite you to delve into a story that I hope warms the soul with a breath of sweet joy.
