Wonderful insight into Brazilian Christmas traditions

Part of a series developed by World Book Inc. several decades ago for young people, these books have evolved into a rich storehouse of information for anyone of any age who enjoys learning the Christmas history, music, crafts, and recipes of many nations. One of the highlights of "Christmas in Brazil" is the story of how people from many parts of the globe settled in Brazil and added their holiday traditions into the colorful blend of cultures. The book is richly illustrated with full-color photos. "Lullaby for Baby Jesus" is translated from the Portuguese language carol and has a full piano arrangement. Recipes in the book include Pineapple-Lime Cooler (Refresco de Lima e Abacaxi), Stuffing for Roast Turkey, Shredded Kale Greens, and Rice with Tomatoes and Onions (Arroz Brasileiro). Included with the book are six recipe cards for additional Christmas treats and an Advent calendar. Collect the whole series for your home library and re-read them every December.

A very "user friendly" book. I recommend it for adoptive parents, teachers, and anyone interested in Brazilian culture or Christmas around the world. Includes a brief history of Brazil appropriate for kids, great color photos, recipes, crafts, and detailed descriptions of celebrations before during and after Christmas in various parts of the country.
