Book Overview

"I like Lucy Stone a lot, and so will readers." --Carolyn Hart It's Christmas in Tinker's Cove, Maine, and Lucy Stone is excited about her acting debut in the town's production of A Christmas Carol. But a real life Scrooge has everyone feeling frosty, and with a murderer on the loose, Lucy will have to unwrap her sleuthing skills faster than she can say, "Bah Humbug " Lucy normally loves planning for the holidays, but this year, Tinker's Cove has fallen on hard times. With so many residents struggling to make ends meet, Christmas festivities are a luxury some can't afford. But the story's not so bleak at Downeast Mortgage, whose tightfisted owners, Jake Marlowe and Ben Scribner, are raking in profits from everyone's misfortune. Half the town is in their debt, so when the miserly Marlowe is murdered, the mourners are few and the suspects are many. . . "Engaging. . .a satisfying conclusion." -- Publishers Weekly "Longtime Lucy Stone readers will be happy to catch up on life in Tinker's Cove in this cozy Christmas mystery." -- Library Journal

God bless us, every one!

“‘Boxing Day,’ Miss Tilley said. ‘In Dickens’s day rich folk boxed up their old clothes and gave them to their servants on Boxing Day.’” I didn’t know this! I noticed “Boxing Day” printed on my calendar as a holiday every year, but I never thought to look up what it is. I assumed it had something to do with the sport, boxing 🥊 . How interesting what it’s really about! This story was Lucy Stone’s version of A Christmas Carol. Not only was a play of A Christmas Carol happening in this book, but it was happening with the actual characters, too. Sara, Lucy’s daughter had her own rebellion happening that caused her to “run away”. Sara is a freshman in college, so her running away is hard for me to be concerned about. Lucy sure was concerned though. She wasn’t thinking rationally at all when she became upset and jumped into her husband’s truck to go search for Sara. Me? I would let Sara go, make her own mistakes just to prove to her that being on her own is rough. This was a good version of A Christmas Carol. God bless us, every one! Next is Book 21 French Pastry Murder. Deuces to your cabooses!
