I was 11 when i read this book. I am now 45 and still believe it to be the book that most has influenced my life (I read an average of 5 books a week). When my daughter was 10 years old I took her to see the movie and as now have another little one I wish I cvould get a copy of the book. This is a true life story and will show everyone how easy it is to get involved with heavy drugs and also to what lenghts people (children!) go to sustain a terrible habit. It will open parent's eyes on how to recognise the signs early enough so that one can help one's kids early enough. It will also give people with this problem hope to conquer it.Thank you Christiane F. wherever you are and God bless you!!

This book is so popular, I cannot work out why it is out of print in English. Its just insane. Anyone that reads it will never forget it. Just one point: Christiane is definitely not dead. She lives in Berlin with her son. The book has so much more impact when you realise that she was a survivor.

i first read christiane f. when i was in 4th grade. i don't think i was supposed to be reading it that young, but my cousins, who are 7 years older than me, were reading it and just wouldn't shut up about it. never since has a book made such an impact on me (and i'm an avid book reader). i read it in my native language (bosnian) and having since moved to the states i tried (unsucessfully) to find a copy in english. maybe someday. until then, i had my relatives send me a copy from the old country. needless to say, i never touched any drugs. no one could after reading this book. i only wish i knew what happened to christiane and detlef.
