Name William Garnella rarely appears in documents of the church history of the seventeenth century. But his immortal work on the spiritual warfare repeatedly published over three centuries, and probably since the first publication of his fortunate enough to read thousands of Christians. William Barket known commentator of the New Testament, in a speech commemorating Garnella, he said of him: "He was a Christian, fully armed". In the first volume of the book it is a sacred call to arms, examines the nature of war and the nature of the enemy, as well as explaining what position in the battle to occupy a Christian. Garnell writes: "armed with weapons of God - means to use His power individually First of all this will require a complete change in the thoughts and feelings of one who boasts of his faith in God, but in their hearts do not believe him, will never be safe in.. combat zone, separating earth and sky. " In the second and third volume of weapons of God are discussed in detail: the belt (the truth), Armor (righteousness), shoes (preparation of the gospel world), a shield (faith), helmet (salvation), the sword (the Word). Speaking the truth, Garnell writes: "If a Christian boldly steps into the path of sin, and then think they can appease their conscience sick confidence in his own forgiveness of love for Christ, he finds a vault door comforting promises of God firmly locked." Sword (Word of God) - is perhaps the most serious weapon. And the author calls "work hard so that your service was impeccable, that is free of errors, passions and vanity."
