I wrote a review December 26, but it has not shown up in your review section! This book is a GREAT read!!!!... It takes you on a journey of this womans life...her trials and tribulations of a single mother of 3, the challenges, disappointments & the struggles she faces. This is a woman with courage, gumption, & sheer guts!!! As an oncology nurse, I was so impressed with the way she handled the description of her disease and treatment... what an inspiration to all women!!! Many of the books I review for our patients, are very depressing and frightening... this book was anything but! She relates there is life after a serious illness, and not just a good life, but an "awesome" one! The book is peppered with humor, and I found myself literally laughing out loud....I have reccommended this books to my 3 sisters, and all my friends... This woman is a talented author, as well as business woman, mother and wife!! Thank you for writing your story!!!!!

I spent New Years Day 2006 reading this book from cover to cover. My husband give it to me as a Christmas gift which was accompanied by a jar of Suzanne's delicious famous Chocolate Sauce. I so looked forward to reading the book, not for the recipes as my husband is the real cook in our home but for the opportunity to curl up with a good book and relax. I was blessed with so much more than a day on the couch. Reading about the tribulations in Suzannes's life set the foundation for her strength in dealing with adversity and the challenges that would come her way. This is a story of courage and action in the face of fear, of strenghth and depth, of passion and giving, of creativity and expression, of family and friends, of acceptance and surrender, of love. The true spiritual connection with other human beings and our awareness of the magnitude that gift is....is the recipe for a rich life. Thank you Suzanne for allowing me to get a deeper, richer understanding of your life story written in such an inspiring and honest way. Having experienced losses in my family, my mother to complications of Muscular Sclerosis and a brother to brain cancer, I am grateful for the successful treatment of another brother for prostate cancer. Suzanne is an inspiration that cancer can be beat not only once but twice. With that success, I am hopeful my father will beat the prostate cancer he is diagnosed with and is currently receiving treatment for. I consider my life to be blessed and I thank God everyday yet I realize that I sometimes take for granted my good health and that of my husband and children. The pain and suffering Suzanne endures while undergoing cancer treatment and her determination to LIVE is a wonderful reminder that I have the opportunity to make a difference with every day and every breath with my healthy body and spirit. This book is a celebration of learning to love and appreciate ones 'self', the gifts we have to offer, and honor those which we have been given. The included CD music was an added bonus. I became emotional while listening to the song 'All The Colors', the vocalist's soulful voice stirred my spirits desire to live life fully and was a reminder that when I am not paying attention....often times I see my glass as half empty....today I am paying attention and choose to see it half full. Thank you for spending the first day of this New Year with me. I can't wait the fresh crop of raspberries from the plants which my husband so lovingly tends.... so he will cook for our family, Suzanne's Raspberry Crepes, with love!

I enjoyed reading Chocolate and Fireflies so much that I have sent the book to 10 of my friends already. The stories of Suzanne's chenanigans is great fun to read. Each chapter has amazing recipes that connect you with her stories and make you feel right at home with her. I have never read a book before that had a music cd attached with music matching the mood of the chapters. What a novel idea. A must read!

Suzanne Locklear's book is a breath of fresh air in an increasingly stale literary environment. She shares the story of her life, her loves, her struggles, and her triumphs in an engaging and very personal way. The music which accompanies the book is an added treat. I ordered 25 copies and gave them out as Christmas presents. Reports are beginning to come in that they were much appreciated. It sounds like she had a family, like all of us, with both strengths and limitations. I appreciated how she presented the importance of supportive sibling relationships. The relationships we have with our brothers and sisters are often the longest relationships we will ever have in our lives. I can't wait for the second volume and the rest of the story. Dr. Ray E.
