This book is one of the introductory series on classical Chinese medicine meticulously selected by Mr. Zhou Yuanbin of Huayin Qianxiu Studio for his disciples. It discusses acupoints, therapeutic principles, needling techniques, and moxibustion methods, with even more detailed explanations. 本书为槐荫潜修斋周元邠先生为其课徒精选的中医经典学习的系列入门读物之一,对穴位、治法、针法、灸法都有论述,讲解更为细致。 This book is the only extant acupuncture-moxibustion work by Yao Tianmin. The complete work is divided into four volumes, comprising four main sections: Meridian and Acupoint Studies, Indications and Therapeutics, Needling Techniques, and Moxibustion Methods. The first section, Meridian and Acupoint Studies, contains three chapters - Introduction, Channels and Vessels, and Acupoint Methods - which systematically discuss the meridians and acupoints. The second section, Indications and Therapeutics, first discusses the synergistic effects of the primary and connecting points, as well as the functions of specific points such as the Five Transport Points and the Eight Influential Points. It then devotes 26 subsections to the treatment of various disorders by region and disease type. The third and fourth sections cover the techniques of needling and moxibustion. In addition to introducing the basic knowledge of acupuncture and moxibustion, the author particularly elucidates the principles of reinforcing and reducing methods and offers detailed critiques of various moxibustion techniques. The earliest edition of Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion Medicine is the lead-printed edition published in 1935 by the Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion Medicine Society. Acupuncture and moxibustion are extremely important in the study of traditional Chinese medicine today. This book is complete in structure and rich in content. Unlike traditional acupuncture texts that present scattered discussions on viscera and bowel systems, yin and yang, qi and blood, nutrient and defensive qi, and acupoint classifications, this work is more logically organized. On the one hand, it inherits classical traditions while drawing on Western medicine's anatomy, physiology, and pathology; on the other hand, it retains the meridian theory while explaining acupuncture principles in terms of nerves, blood vessels, lymphatic vessels, and the hepatic duct. A particularly valuable feature of this book is that when explaining the application of acupoints, it emphasizes not only needling techniques but also specific moxibustion methods. By interpreting Yao Tianmin's acupuncture theories, this work helps future generations better study acupuncture and moxibustion, assists clinical practitioners in applying these methods in a more multifaceted manner in clinical settings, and provides an excellent textbook for Chinese medicine education. This book serves as a valuable reference for practitioners of Chinese internal medicine, clinical acupuncture and moxibustion specialists, faculty and students of Chinese medical colleges, and enthusiasts of traditional Chinese medicine.
