A composite of Sir John Falstaff and his routines as Orson Welles sees it.

Black and white for ambiance. We see many of our favorite actors and would never have thought they would be in such a production, written and directed by Orson Welles.
Most of the scenes are plucked straight from Shakespeare; you know what they are going to say before they say it. However, it is fun to see how they display the characters.
It takes a little time to pick up the rhythm and enjoy the production itself, and not just a shade of Shakespeare. Subtitles help.
Be sure you bought the Criterion version.
This gets the Criterion treatment, so after watching them, watch the commentary and then watch the movie again.
