A very good tech manual for those who want to able to maintain their vehicle. Easy to understand, and concise in scope. Highly recommended for the car buff.

Not so much for the Novice but read on....

This manual is designed to be in an automotive shop where the reader will already have substantial knowledge of the vehicle being worked on. The steps tend to skip the "basics" as it assumes the reader is a professional mechanic and gets right into the "nitty-gritty" concerning torque specs, troubleshoots, etc. In my case, Chilton and Haynes have not created the basic Mitsubishi Lancer repair manuals yet and to purchase the shop manual will run me around $200+. I am by no means the professional mechanic; however, by spending a bit of time trying to decipher this manual it has proven to give valuable "ideas" about where to begin when removing certain parts or when troubleshooting. If you are not the professional mechanic I would recommend finding the basic Chilton's or Haynes manuals for your vehicle; however, if you have a situation like mine, or perhaps your basic manuals don't have the details your particular situation needs, this is not a bad option-IF you cannot find your shop manual at a reasonable price. I purchased for about $20 with shipping. Just keep in mind that this manual covers MANY vehicles and will be nowhere near as comprehensive as your actual shop manual for your vehicle. While you might not find exactly what you need on your current repair in this manual, know that for $20 this is a very valuable Do-It-Yourself tool. For what it is - a SERVICE manual covering a wide range of model/year vehicles I give it 5 stars. If I had expected this manual to cover every detail about my particular vehicle (which it is not designed to do as it is a SERVICE manual and NOT a REPAIR manual) I would have been disappointed and given it a lower rating.
